Indoor Ramps
-
Joist Spacing (RoSPA have no guidelines) Our joists do not exceed 25.5cm between center’s and 1.2m length giving both strength and rigidity. All joists used for top decking areas are under joisted to give added strength.
-
Transitions (RoSPA have no guidelines) are fixture machined to reproduce precisely the same radius for each ramp section.
-
All ramps are cross- braced as standard (RoSPA have no guidelines).
-
Each 1.2m section of ramp is fully enclosed using 18mm WPP face BB Hardwood Ply to reduce noise and increase strength ( RoSPA state timber ramps to be fully enclosed to reduce fire risk and litter build up).
-
Fixings (RoPSA state annular ring nails can be used indoors but never on top of riding surface and fixings should be countersunk), all our ramps are screwed using double hardened heat treated screws finished with a gold coloured passivate for corrosion resistance and toughness. Security screws will be fitted to all ramps constructed for unsupervised areas such as outdoor parks to avoid vandalism. All screws are countersunk whether on show or not.
-
Guard Rails (RoSPA states that Guard Rails should be at least 1m height) Our Guard Rails are a minimum height of 1.2m however each ramp is individually risk assessed as a greater height may be required.
-
Ramp Skins (RoSPA states should be a minimum of 2 layers of 9mm, base sheet should be WBP and top sheet Marine Ply) Our standard surfaces are 2 layers of Hardwood WPB face BB (NOT ELIE OTOS PINE) with a top sheet of 6mm Latvian Birch WPB Ply. Marine Ply splinters with use, Latvian Birch is a much harder and durable ply and is far less inclined to splinter.
-
Platforms (RoSPA states should be 18mm Ply) our platforms are 18mm WPB Hardwood Ply with a top layer of 6mm Latvian Birch Ply.
-
Timber Frames (RoSPA states timber frames should be a minimum of 75mm x 50mm timber) Our frame work is KD/C24 Construction Graded timber to conform to BS 4978 and is a minimum size of 100mm x 50mm (All ramps for outdoor use will be preserved to EN351-1).
-
Coping (RoSPA states coping should be constructed of steel and be 50mm minimum diameter with sealed ends) all our coping is 50mm dia and is galvanised to BS 5729 with sealed ends (overhang to be 3mm min, 12mm max).
-
Nuts and Bolts (RoSPA have no guidelines) all our ramps are bolted together using stainless steel security fixings.
All completed projects will come with a full RoSPA report as standard.
